Living at the speed we are currently doing, I don’t about you, but I’m losing more things than I did a few years ago. Maybe it’s just the age or that the miniaturization of technology and having many gadgets takes victims by way of revenge.
Anyway, we have the great good fortune that technology has been on our side and there are numerous products and gadgets whose main objective is that, if we want to look for something the first time, we can do it with 100% success. Yes, as if it were our mother to whom we asked.
Now it’s time to decide which important objects you put on one of these three products we have selected to achieve that dream of finding keys the first time. Or better, do not lose them.
- Gigaset G-Tag: ideal to never lose the keys
Gigaset launched a new category of products last year: personal GPS locators. The G-Tag is your first model. They are pieces of the size of two SD cards, colorful and made of resistant plastic.
These G-Tags are connected to our smartphone via Bluetooth, they do not need to be recharged because they have an internal battery (one year), and they offer search, alarm and reminder functions. With the corresponding application, available for Android and iOS, we can configure different objects to be controlled, and in each one of them we can define sound and visual alarms so that the smartphone warns us if we move away from a keys or a backpack, or if we go from home without something we had marked as essential.
Functionality is that using the GPS, we can see where the object is to look for and even define areas such as our house, where we do not receive an alert if we separate from the object with tracking. These devices, which have their privileged place especially in a key ring, are sold in packs of five units for 80 euros or individually for 19.90 euros.
- Nokia Treasure Tag Mini: save our objects and locate them on a map
Nokia (now Microsoft) has an accessory that has given a lot of value over time. The Nokia Treasure Tag Mini weighs very little, only 6 grams, carries the internal battery and allows to keep located our most precious objects. We can define alarms or have on the map of our smartphone the last location where contact with the device was lost.
Associated with the application you can have up to four of these Tags, which communicate with the smartphone via BT 4.0. To reduce your consumption. The system is compatible with both Windows Lumia and iOS and Android devices. The price of these Treasure Tags, available in several colors very “lumias” is 24 euros.
- Tile: the best known
Starting at $ 25 a unit, the price will be reduced if you ask for more, Tile can be yours. It is undoubtedly the best known personal locator device in the market, probably because of the amount of advertising used for it. The appearance also helps him to be recognized, and although the base model is white, it is very attractive visually. It is also small, manageable and the perforation to place it subject to different objects is very generous, facilitating that task.
The Tile locators can be used to find objects the first time. We mark them in the application and the associated Tile will start to sound. We can also perform a search of our smartphone with a Tile just by pressing a button. Then our smartphone will sound as if we were receiving a call, even if it is in silence or vibration mode.
Other objects are:
- Kensington Next: the most affordable
Kensington, who from this to protect gadgets knows his own, has two products of type locator. The model called The Next one is the most compact, appearing as a car key, and whose price is 18 euros. There is the key to this device that is not the most striking in appearance.
But with that price more attractive for the user who does not want to lose the smartphone or keys, it is the most sensible. Its functions are practically the same as in other models: BT 4.0 connectivity, application for Android and iOS, and the possibility of determining alarms for when an object leaves the control area (which we can configure with more flexibility than in other tags of this kind).
- StickNfind: objects located discretely
If the previous proposals of our selection were related to brands that had no experience in this location or directly born of the crowdfunding, the StickNfind have behind a company expert in location systems at a professional level.
Its portable labels compatible with iOS and Android are sold in packs of two units for $ 50 and we can choose many colors. Here the design does not prevail nor that they are attractive because they are the ones that less, but they have a weight of fewer than 5 grams and very little thickness.
Its placement is more direct and is not intended to be shown but to keep localized objects on a map (the last place where it was linked to our smartphone), activate alarms in case of getting away from the object, or location while moving as a Radar. His autonomy is one year.
- HipKey: you will never lose an iPhone or your backpack will be stolen
A secondary use of the locators is to be able to define alarms that, rather than letting us know that we have lost an object to which the locator is subject, does so with the smartphone. In this case, there is only application for iPhone.
If the HipKey is placed in something that we always carry with us, such as house keys or a pendant, we can set an alarm (visual, vibration or sound up to 90 dB) on the device itself to warn us that we have left behind the phone. That alarm distance is adjustable and can be up to 50 meters.
Hipkey also includes motion sensors to raise the alarm if, subject to a backpack or suitcase or even a key, someone takes it without our permission or we realize. At home, we can determine a safe area so that the selected alarms do not jump.
In this locator the charge is by micro USB, so you have to make sure that you always have it at maximum. Autonomy is established for 2-3 weeks. Its price is 85 euros
