The many technological advances that the world is suffering are being applied in all sectors, and more, and the world of locks is not left behind in this regard. The locks are in constant evolution becoming locks much safer, modern and complex to open even by those thieves with more experience in robberies. However, even the modern locks of the digital age tend to have some problems and failures. Next, we will know some of these and how we can cope.
The door does not open when the code is entered in the lock.
- The code that has been previously entered has not been deleted, before entering the following code, the ‘C’ must always be entered before the code.
- Check that the code that is being entered is the same code that is either on the code card that is supplied with the instructions or on the code that has been entered, which can be found by removing and looking at the red retainers that identify the code.
- Is your axis in the correct orientation in the tubular closure? When placed on the cam the top edge of the spindle should be tilted towards the edge of the door lock.
I changed the code of the original code and it will not work when I entered the new code in the digital lock.
- When changing the code, the detainees have not been set correctly, since all the retention devices must have the cut in the outside facing the numbers.
- Make sure that the red retainers for the entered code are facing up. The blue retainers need to be placed in the other numbers that are not being used.
- When the retainers have been removed or repositioned in the digital lock that the general ledger has broken. This means that when the retainers are removed make sure that the lock is held upright and push down the letter “C”. Then move the retainers out of the digital lock. It’s time to put the seals back in the unit, do not press on them, click on the “C” button that will then drop the retainers in the locations of the digital lock.
How many digits can I enter in the code?
- This will depend on the number of detentions provided with the unit. Spare retainers are supplied with each unit and can vary between 4 and 7 depending on the unit purchased.
- The control handle of my standard digital code change keyboard has too much movement inside it before I have entered the correct code, is it defective?
- There is a small amount of free movement in the handle of the knob (a couple of degrees of rotation) as standard in these units, but not enough to compromise the safety of the unit.
- Did you change the code of the unit? If yes, did you keep pressing the “C” button when changing the drums? If the answer is negative, then the above has occurred, since the general ledger is damaged when the “C” is not kept in the pressed position during the code change process. The inner handle of the pad will only turn in one direction and cause hand injuries; anyway, you have to change the handle of the pad so that it turns in the opposite direction.
- The inside of the digital lock will have a blue screw inserted in the back plate. The screw must be in the other hole to change the rotation direction of the padded handle.
Can I eliminate the detention facility?
- Yes, there must be a black blanking plate supplied with the product that can be used to cover the opening that will be created once the snib is removed from the detention facility. If there is no blind plate with the product, contact the office and arrangements can be made to supply one.
- Looking in reverse of the internal rotation, remove the 4 screws that secure the plate, where the shaft is located. Once you remove the plate, push the nib back into the body of the internal turn, you will notice the mechanism behind the elevator of the detention facility. Remove the mechanism and place the blind window in the created opening. Reattach the plate with the screws.
When I put the spindle through the door, it is not located in the indoor unit.
- Check that the shaft has been cut to the correct length.
- If the shaft has been cut too short, replacements are available upon request. The latch will not return to its fully extended position once it has been operated through the external or internal part of the digital lock.
- There may be something that restricts the motion. Remove the unit from the door and check for loose chips and wood that obstruct the shaft or mechanism.
- When re-attaching the unit to the door, check that the shaft is not too long and, therefore, touch the bottom both on the inside and outside of the digital lock. The background drop occurs when the length of the axis is greater than the width of the door and the amount of coupling in the internal and external units added. If the shaft is too long, it may begin to twist or bend, when the fixings are tightened, which prevents the unit from working properly.
- Do not over tighten the unit, as this can cause the mechanism to compress and prevent proper operation, especially on wooden doors, if the surface is not flat, the latch does not fit into the provided hammer.
- The complete latch is not intended to enter the front opening. You will notice two parts when looking at the head of the latch; there will be the main body and a separate radio part that can be pushed independently of the body of the main latch. This is the anti-push feature of the latch and is designed to sit on the front plate itself, allowing the main part to enter the opening when the door is in the closed position while maintaining the anti-theft function.
These are some of the problems that modern locks tend to present. There may be other failures, even when it is necessary to replace the complete system, but it is always good to review and if we do not know much about the subject we should call a professional locksmith to take care of the problem.
